FIFA Club World Cup Manchester City Vs Wydad AC: Manchester City is one of the biggest clubs in world football and Wydad AC is the biggest club in Morocco. A big mis-match of team evaluation, but Wydad AC proved it that football is much more than money and individual talent. Wydad AC might have lost the game 2-0 but it was not at all easy for Pep Guardiola to snatch the win.

Manchester City Vs Wydad AC

Manchester City started the new boys in the form of Vitor Reis, Rayan Cherki and Tijjani Reijnders. Pep decided to start a very attacking team as there was only one holding midfielder alongside two attacking mids, Cherki and Foden.

1st half

The 1st half started with the usual Manchester City possession domination of the ball and Wydad AC could do nothing about it. The start was so intense that Phil Foden opened the scoring in the 2nd minute as City were attacking continuously.

It looked like that the Man City team would easily run away with the match but that was not the case. City kept the possession but were not able to penetrate the Wydad AC defence and in return Wydad was able to create chances on the counter but failed to capitalise on these moments.

They lacked the quality in the final third and that is what stood between them and the goal. Wydad came close with certain chances but it was City who scored again in the 42nd minute through Jeremy Doku.

He scored from a corner kick and doubled the lead for City just before half-time.

2nd half

The 2nd half saw some changes as Haaland, Oscar Bobb and Rodri were brought on for Phil Foden, Cherki and Jeremy Doku.

The changes provided more clarity in the midfield as Rodri and Reijnders played in the double pivot and Gundogan became the no.10 when he got substituted in the 69th minute for Marmoush.

The game became a bit sluggish after the changes as Pep decided to sit and play with ball in and around the Wydad defence who could only see them operate from a distance.

The game was on the end but at the 88th minute, Rico Lewis was awarded a harsh Red Card when he slapped a Wydad player with his boot after winning the ball. The follow-through of his studs caught the player and the referee decided that it was certainly a Red card offence.

This brought an end to the game and in the end it was an easy win for Manchester City but still Wydad AC were brilliant in counters and proved to be a menace for Pep’s team.
