Manchester United vs Manchester City match
It has been a long time since a goal-less draw was produced at the Manchester derby, but it was the kind of game that was played in the Old Trafford on Sunday.
Neither team was able to score and very less recognisable chances were created throughout the game as the game was more of a midfield battle. As Erling Haaland was not playing Marmoush and Foden played as two number 10’s and were operating in advanced positions on the field. It was a cagy affair that stretched a bit in the second half but was never open enough to score a goal. Pep tried to overload the midfield area as Bernardo Silva, Ilkay Gundogan, Mateo Kovacic, Foden, De Bruyne and Marmoush were on the field for Manchester City in the starting 11. This overload without any pacy winger only meant that Guardiola wanted it to be more possession based rather than attacking minded. Whereas Amorim’s United looked the same with bits of good play and lots of mediocre football.
Manchester United vs Manchester City 1st half
The match started off promisingly when Ruben Dias took down Alejandro Garnacho of Manchester United just outside the area in the opening minute, earning the City defender a yellow card. However, the City defense effectively handled the subsequent free-kick from Bruno Fernandes.

The tempo significantly slowed after that, Phil Foden and Ilkay Gundogan of City both missed the mark with speculative attempts, and United keeper Andre Onana easily stopped Kevin De Bruyne’s low shot. In the meantime, it was challenging for United’s forwards to get past City’s well-organized defense.
Manchester United vs Manchester City 2nd half
Omar Marmoush regularly produced space and chances, including a wonderful layoff to Foden, as City attempted to pick up the pace in the second half. However, the shot lacked conviction. Guardiola replaced Foden with Jeremy Doku to provide forward momentum, but the game continued at its slow tempo.

The Cameroonian goalkeeper stayed firm as Marmoush, who remained City’s finest player, challenged him with a powerful half-volley and a dipping free-kick. United’s Manuel Ugarte came quite close with a long-range shot that narrowly missed.
In the final moments, United substitute Joshua Zirkzee had a chance to win, but Ederson made a fantastic stop to keep the score level.
Premier League Table
Pep Guardiola’s team are fifth in the table on 52 points, one behind Chelsea, and United are languishing in 13th place on 38.
