Team India is on a roll. Rohit Sharma’s men aim at yet another bilateral series win as they face the Proteas in Guwahati on Sunday. India downed South Africa by eight wickets in the first T20I in Thiruvananthapuram. Indian bowlers ran riot against the Proteas batters and returned to form with a clinical performance.

At one stage, South Africa slumped to 9/5 before Keshav Maharaj rescued the team with his 41 run-knock. Temba Bavuma would hope the young batters learn their lessons from the first T20I to put on an improved show.

What India should do to win the series?

A repeat show of the first game could help India win the series. The team ticked most of the boxes in the first match. But they can’t consider South Africa lightly, as they can bounce back at any stage. Earlier this year, when the two teams squared off, India and South Africa draw level 2-2. This was after South Africa won the first two games. India bounced back in the next two matches, while the fifth T20I was washed out.

The Men in Blue may try to fix the areas of improvement, as they have just two more games before the T20 World Cup. They would like to give more game time to the batters, especially five to seven, as they lacked opportunities in recent times. India is in a position where they can afford to lose a match, considering the importance of setting the right team combo for the showpiece event.

Can South Africa bounce back?

South Africa has the ability to get back to its feet. They can consider the loss as a one-off incident and get back on track with the young and motivated talent they have in the team.

They’ll also look to give a fitting farewell to coach Mark Boucher, who is at the last leg of his tenure as South African coach. Both India and South Africa have a lot to play for, in what promises to be another exciting clash.
