Matthijs de Ligt wants to leave the club this summer; Juventus CEO confirms
Chelsea are interested in signing Matthijs de Ligt this summer.
Premier League club Chelsea FC wants to sign Matthijs de Ligt in this summer transfer window. Juventus defender is on the top of their list. It seems the central defender wants to leave the club this summer (Juventus) as confirmed by the club’s chief executive officer (CEO). Juventus CEO Arrivabene indirectly indicates that they can’t force a player who doesn’t want to stay at the club which was for their central defender Matthijs de Ligt.
Juventus CEO Arrivabene tells Tuttosport on Matthijs de Ligt deal with Chelsea as reported by Fabrizio Romano, “It’s impossible to keep players when they want to leave the club – but all the three parties in the negotiations have to be satisfied.”
Matthijs de Ligt was targeted by many European clubs but wasn’t being approached. He is one of the best defenders playing in Europe right now. The Juventus centre-back is one of the important players for them. As Juventus haven’t won a Serie A trophy since two years and the club’s performance in UEFA Champions League is also not appreciable thus, de Ligt doesn’t want to continue in the club.
However, Juventus have signed some of the good players this summer. Paul Pogba has joined the side from Manchester United on a free transfer and also they signed a central defensive midfielder named Denis Zakaria. After Matthijs de Ligt, the club will be looking to sign his replacement for the upcoming season.
