Punjab Kings captain KL Rahul has to be hospitalized as he has a serious problem in appendicitis and will now have to undergo surgery. He is expected to return to the field 10 days later. But in the match against Delhi Capitals on Sunday, when the Punjab Kings team came out to bat on the field, Rahul did not miss it, because his captain Mayank Agarwal, who was captaining him, stunned the Delhi Capitals by playing a bang innings.
Mayank Agarwal, captaining in the absence of KL Rahul, went into the opening with wicketkeeper batsman Prabhsimran Singh against Delhi Capitals. Prabhsimran was out for 12 and Chris Gayle was dismissed for 13, even after the wickets kept falling but Mayank Agarwal was in a different mood today. These batsmen played full responsibility as soon as they got the captaincy and played a bang innings.
The 30-year-old opener completed his 9th IPL half-century in 37 balls and his innings got faster after that. Mayank stayed on till the last ball. He hit a four off the last ball of the innings, with which his score reached 99 runs, he stayed away from his second IPL century by just 1 run.
Mayank Agarwal smashed an unbeaten 99 from 58 balls which included 4 sixes and 8 fours. Batting at a strike rate of 170.68, he led his team to 166 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. He was also playing his first IPL match when David Malan (26) was the only batsman apart from him who stayed on the pitch for a while. Apart from this, four players could not even cross the ten-figure mark. See how Twitterati reacts on this inning:

Brilliant knock from Mayank Agarwal 👏 Deserved a century. Can't think of many IPL innings so dominated by one player. No other contributions of note from #PBKS
