Taylor Fritz was born on 28 October 1997 in Rancho Santa Fe in California. His mother, Kathy May, was a former top-10 WTA player, and his father, Guy Henry Fritz, is a respected tennis coach. He grew up in a tennis-oriented family and had access to a backyard tennis court where he refined his skills under his father’s guidance. He attended Torrey Pines High School and won the CIF singles title as a freshman before switching to online schooling to focus on junior tournaments.

He began competition in ITF at the age of 15 and achieved significant success in junior tennis. In 2015, he reached the finals of the French Open and won the Junior US Open. He earned the title of ITF Junior World Champion, making him the first American to achieve this feat after Andy Roddick in 2000.
