The IHF Men’s Handball World Championship 2025 is set to kick off 14 January and will conclude on 2 February. The tournament will be played in Denmark, Croatia, and Norway.
The 29th edition of the IHF Men’s Handball World Championship will be staged in five venues – Arena Varazdin (Varazdin), Arena Zagreb (Zagreb), and Zatika Arena (Porec) are in Croatia, with Jyske Bank Boxen (Herning) in Denmark, and Unity Arena (Oslo) in Norway.
The indomitable Denmark will be looking for a fourth consecutive world crown. They are also the reigning Olympic champion and are pumped with confidence to achieve the feat.
Olympic silver medallists Germany along with 2023 World Championship runners-up France and bronze medallists Spain are the main challengers.
Only European teams have won in the Men’s Handball World Championship. Qatar is the only team from outside Europe to reach the final, doing so in 2015.
IHF Men’s Handball World Championship 2025 : Format
The Handball World Championship 2025 will feature 32 competing teams divided into eight preliminary round groups. The top three in each group progress to the main round. The eight eliminated teams will fight out the President’s Cup.
Results against other qualified teams are carried forward to the main round which comprises four pools of six teams. The top two teams in each group will advance to the knockout phase which starts with the quarter-finals.
