Michael Vaughan slams ‘pathetic’ Pakistan for extremely poor show against England ‘Can lose to any team on any given day’

The host England defeated Pakistan in the first ODI by nine wickets. It was a poor performance by Pakistan batsmen as they were bowled out within 36 overs. They have only managed to get 141 runs in the overs they have played. England pacer Saqib Mahmood was impressive among the other England pacers and picked up 4-42. The opener Fakhar Zaman’s score of 47 was the highest score by a Pakistan batsman in that innings.

England has chased the total in just 211.5 overs, by just losing one wicket along the way. There was a couple of half-centuries from David Malan and Zak Crawley. Now, the host England lead the series 1-0 After Pakistan showing extremely poor performance, Former England captain Michael Vaughan tweeted.

Michael Vaughan posted a couple of tweets directed at Pakistan’s performance ,the former England captain called their outing ‘pathetic’. Michael Vaughan tweeted that “ For England to rock up yesterday as a team & perform like they did tells us so much about the culture of the white ball team ..very, very, impressive .. for Pakistan they were PATHETIC.. It’s only the way to describe a performance like that”.

Vaughan posted the above tweet at the end of the match, but also posted a tweet at the end of the Pakistan innings “Love watching Pakistan play Cricket…A team that can beat any team in the world on any given day but also lose to any team on any given day”, the other tweet read.

Captain Baber Azam lamented his team performance, saying Pakistan are looking forward to the second ODI at Lord’s to even things up. “Credit to England for this. We didn’t get momentum, or a big partnership. Fakhar carried his form on from South Africa. We are looking forward to Lord’s and we have to try and do our best “’he said after the match.

There were six debutants in the match, five from England and one from Pakistan. The players who made their debut are Brydon Carse, John Simpson, Lewis Gregory, Phil Salt and Crawley for England and for Pakistan Saud Shakeel. The England team was assembled after the preliminary squad had detected three Covid positive cases.
