Microsoft buys Activision Blizzard

Microsoft in Tuesday, has agreed to buy video game company Activision Blizzard in an all cash deal, valuing nearly at $70 bn. With this deal, Microsoft is stepping into the gaming metaverse. If completed, the deal would be CEO Satya Nadella’s biggest ever acquisition since he has taken the command of software company in 2014. This deal also marks a directional shift in the business computing and a rising giant for video games.

With this deal, the tech giant is betting big on the prospects of a video game metaverse. These games enable the players to connect, socialise and even monetize. This transaction will enable Microsoft to to strengthen its roots into the gaming industry by adding a lot of popular game franchises like Candy Crush, Call of Duty and World of Warcraft.
