The much-anticipated boxing match between legendary fighter Mike Tyson and internet star Jake Paul is now confirmed for November 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Originally set for July 20, the fight had to be postponed after Tyson faced health challenges.

This heavyweight clash will run for eight rounds with no limit on weight, featuring both men in the ring. The event will also showcase other thrilling matchups, including Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano and Mario Barrios vs. Abel Ramos, who will battle for the WBC world welterweight title. Fans will also see Bruce Carrington take on Dana Coolwell and Shadasia Green face Melinda Watpool on the same card.

Why Was the Fight Delayed?

Mike Tyson’s health scare was the reason behind the initial delay. During a flight from Los Angeles to Miami, Tyson experienced a flare-up of a stomach ulcer, which required immediate care. After consulting with doctors, he was advised to stick to light training for a few weeks, helping him recover fully before getting back to intense workouts.

New Rules for the Tyson-Paul Match

Ahead of the fight, a few adjustments have been made to the rules, which many believe will work in Mike Tyson’s favour. The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation approved the fighters to wear 14-ounce gloves instead of the standard 10-ounce gloves. This change is meant to soften punches and reduce the chance of knockouts. In addition, the rounds will be shorter, lasting two minutes instead of the usual three.

Roy Jones Jr., who boxed Tyson in 2020, shared his views on the new rules. He mentioned that Tyson did not lose stamina during their two-minute rounds, which could give him an edge in this upcoming fight.

“I’m going to tell you this, when I boxed him four years ago it was only two-minute rounds but surprisingly he didn’t decline, he stayed the same the whole fight. And that surprised me. If they are doing two-minute rounds then Mike is not going to tire out, I already know that because I watched him do that.”

Fans are eagerly waiting to see how these rule changes play out when the two step into the ring.
