The former winger of Mohan Bagan club Pranab Ganguly 1969 Shield final hero have passed away on 24 April 2021. The club posted and updated about it on the club’s official Twitter handle.
Mohun Bagan former winger Pronab Ganguly, 75, was having breathing problems for the past few days and suffered a cardiac arrest at his Park Circus residence on Friday, according to sources in his former club.
The former winger Pronab Ganguly is best remembered for his double strike against East Bengal in the club’s 1969 IFA Shield win. Ganguly had also won the Calcutta Football League (CFL) (1969), the IFA Shield (1969) once each, and the Rovers Cup four times (1968, 1970, 1971, 1972) while performing for the Mariners.

All India Football Federation (AIFF) President Praful Patel said, “It is sad to hear that Mr. Ganguly is no more. I share the grief.”
Condoling the former footballer’s death, AIFF General Secretary Kushal Das said, “Mr. Ganguly was a winger of repute. My condolences to his family. We pray for his soul to rest in peace.”
After retirement, he was involved as a coach with Calcutta Cricket and Football Club and also several academies. He was bestowed with Mohun Bagan’s Lifetime Achievement award in 2020.
