The most fours scored by a team in an ODI inning: The way the game is played now is very different from how it was played even a decade ago. This is the number of fours an ODI cricket team has scored in an inning. The modern era of cricket has seen teams and players adopt an aggressive style. As soon as the game’s first ball is thrown, players begin attacking. The boundaries are smaller, the pitches are much flatter, and the bats are bigger today.
RANKED: A team’s ODI innings with the most fours:
- England
When it comes to fours in an ODI inning, England holds the record. England scored 25 fours against Afghanistan on June 18, 2019, during their match in the ICC Cricket World Cup. In that game, England totalled 397 runs, of which 100 were scored solely on boundaries. With 24 fours against the West Indies in February 2019, England holds the record for the second-highest number of fours by a team in an ODI inning. Additionally, against Australia in 2018, they hit 21 fours in a single inning.
- West Indies
The Windies team is noted for its hard-hitting and aggressive batting. In ODI innings, they’ve struck the third-most fours. In February 2019, they defeated England, scoring 23 fours in the process. Despite amassing 360 runs, they still lost the game. In one ODI inning, they also scored 22 fours.
- New Zealand
The third team to hit the most fours in an ODI inning is the Black Caps. At their match against the West Indies on January 1st, 2014, in Queenstown, New Zealand, they hit 22 fours.
- South Africa
At the Wankhede stadium in 2015, the Proteas scored 20 fours against India. With the help of centuries from Faf du Plessis, AB de Villiers, and Hashim Amla, they were able to score 438 runs in that inning.
- India
At the Chinnaswamy stadium in 2013, India’s innings against Australia included 19 fours. They scored 383 runs, which was enough to win the game. Both teams scored a tonne of runs during the series’ five games, making it a run-feast.

Earlier, the game of singles and doubles in ODI cricket was called that. But over the past five years, a significant shift in batsmen’s attitudes has been observed in ODI cricket. Teams have learned how to play ODIs aggressively from the men’s cricket team of England. With their aggressive style of play, they have completely transformed ODI cricket.
