Mountain Bike European Championships ’25: Top Athletes, Schedule

The UEC Mountain Bike European Championships 2025 will be underway in Melgaço, at the Portugal-Spanish border. The event will take place from 23 to 27 July.

With raw beauty and deep cycling roots, this quiet corner of the Peneda-Gerês National Park will host the continent’s best who will compete in cross-country Olympic (XCO), short track (XCC), and team relay (XCR) disciplines at the Mountain Bike European Championship.

Olympic champions, world title holders, and rising talents all set to make Mountain Bike European Championships 2025 a blockbuster event.

UEC Mountain Bike European Championships 2025: Top Athletes

Men’s Elite

  • Tom Pidcock (Great Britain) – just off a sensational win in Andorra’s World Cup XCO, surging from the fourth row into a solo victory and finishing 21 seconds clear of Luca Martin. He’s in top form and will be the headline act.
  • Nino Schurter (Switzerland) – the sport’s most decorated rider, still capable of high-speed bursts and racecraft that few can match.
  • Ondřej Cink (Czech Republic) – hungry after his muddy Leogang breakthrough and ready to translate that energy into European gold.
  • Luca Martin (France) – recently punctured out of Pidcock’s wheel in Andorra and claimed XCC short‑track glory; look for a strong comeback.
  • Charlie Aldridge (GB) – U23 silver medallist last year, already translating youth success into elite World Cup podiums.
  • Simone Avondetto (Italy), David Valero Serrano (Spain), Jordan Sarrou (France) – pedigree riders equally capable of contending in big races.
  • Filippo Colombo (Switzerland), Luca Schwarzbauer (Germany), Luca Braidot (Italy) – all regular World Cup podium finishers, seasoned and dangerous on tricky courses.

Women’s Elite

  • Mona Mitterwallner (Austria) – season-dominant and justifying the status of favourite with multiple World Cup wins.
  • Jolanda Neff (Switzerland) – Olympic cross-country champion, still a major force in high-stakes racing.
  • Loana Lecomte (France) – 2022 European champion and current BMC Factory Racing rider as of 2025, consistently fighting for top honours.
  • Line Burquier (France) – rising star teammate of Lecomte, carrying momentum and looking to step up.
