MS Dhoni Destroys Krunal Pandya With 6,6,4 After Fiery Bouncer: MS Dhoni, the legendary wicketkeeper-batsman of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), thrilled the crowd with his powerful hitting on Friday, March 28. He smashed Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) left-arm spinner Krunal Pandya.
The 8th match of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025) took place at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, where Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).
CSK’s bowlers had a tough time, allowing RCB to post a challenging target of 197 runs. While chasing, CSK got off to a shaky start and kept losing wickets consistently. Meanwhile, fans in the stadium grew excited as it raised the possibility of MS Dhoni coming in to bat earlier than expected.
Dhoni usually bats after Ravindra Jadeja, and with several all-rounders in the CSK squad, many expected him to come in at No.8. However, that wasn’t the case. Instead, Ravichandran Ashwin was sent at No.8, while Dhoni unexpectedly walked in at No.9. This was only the second time in his 344 T20 innings that he batted so low, leaving fans and experts surprised and critical of the decision.
By the time Dhoni arrived at the crease, CSK had little to no chance of winning. He didn’t start attacking immediately and took some time to settle in. His best moment came in the final over when the match was already out of reach.
Krunal Pandya bowled the last over, beginning with a full delivery followed by a bouncer. The short ball seemed to fire up Dhoni, who then smashed huge sixes on the third and fourth deliveries. He misjudged the next ball, playing a dot, but finished the over with a four.
Dhoni ended his innings with 30 runs off 16 balls, hitting 3 fours and 2 sixes. Though his knock couldn’t secure a win for CSK, it helped him achieve a major milestone, becoming CSK’s all-time leading run-scorer in IPL history with 4,689 runs, surpassing Suresh Raina’s tally of 4,687 runs.
Meanwhile, fans on social media also criticized Dhoni’s decision to come down at the 9th number. Check out the reactions of the fans:
