MS Dhoni also discussed the team’s performance, admitting that they haven’t been able to take advantage of the home conditions.

He was honest about the team’s uncharacteristic performance this season, mentioning that they have been making many changes. Speaking at the toss, he said:

“One of the things is the pride factor. Majority of the games you play at home. Home advantage is very important which we haven’t been able to capitalise on. Same team. We’ve been a side where we don’t make a lot of changes. But this season we’ve made a lot of changes.

“Reason is simple. If most of your players are doing well, then you chop and change 1-2 players. But this season it hasn’t worked for us. It’s also the first season after a fresh auction. So you have something in mind but you have to see where a batter is suited better.”

Clues Pointing to MS Dhoni’s Possible Retirement in IPL 2025

There was a lot of talk that IPL 2025 could be MS Dhoni’s last season, with many clues pointing to it. Before the season, he was spotted wearing a shirt with “One last time” written in Morse code.

In one of the Chennai Super Kings’ games at Chepauk, a video of his wife saying “His last game” went viral while his parents were in the stands. However, MS Dhoni has left everyone unsure about his future, and it’s unclear whether he will play next season.

Dhoni has struggled this season. As a captain, he hasn’t been very successful, and he hasn’t been able to score many runs either. He has batted slowly and later in the order, which has led to a lot of criticism.
