Muhammad Waseem has been named as the captain of the UAE T20 Squad for the two-match T20 International series against Ireland, to be held in Dubai on January 29 and 31. This series is an important preparation task before the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
UAE vs Ireland T20Is: Match Schedule and Timings
The two T20 Internationals will be played in different conditions as part of the UAE’s preparations for the World Cup:
- 1st T20I: January 29, 6:30 PM local time
- 2nd T20I: January 31, 10:00 AM local time
After the series, both teams will head to the subcontinent to participate in the global event, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka.
UAE Yet to Announce World Cup Squad
Although the UAE T20 Squad for the series against Ireland has been announced, the Emirates are yet to announce their final squad for the 2026 T20 World Cup. USA and Sri Lanka are the only other countries in the 20-team tournament who have not yet announced their World Cup squads.

UAE have been placed in Group D of the T20 World Cup and will begin their campaign against strong opposition:

vs Canada – February 13, Delhi
vs Afghanistan – February 16, Delhi

Ireland are part of Group B and will play all their matches in Colombo:

T20 World Cup 2026: Tournament Format Explained
The tournament involves 20 teams, which are grouped into four groups of five teams. The top two teams from each group proceed to the Super Eight stage The Super Eight teams are grouped into two groups of four. The top two teams from each Super Eight group qualify for the semi-finals.
