The NBA All-Star Game 2025 is set to roll as the teams have shaped up. Three teams have been announced after commentators and former NBA legends Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley, and Kenny Smith participated in a Draft format to select the 24 players.

Notably, three-time Olympic champion Lebron James was the first to go in the all-star draft after being picked by Shaquille O’Neal. Jaylen Brown was the last pick who also went to “Team Shaq.”

How the 2025 edition is different

The 2025 NBA All-Star  Game will be not be held in the East vs. West format like previous years. The competition will feature four teams of eight players each. The three teams-drafted by Shaquille O’Neal, Charles Barkley, and Kenny Smith- will be joined in a mini-tournament by the winner of the Rising Stars competition (Friday, 14th Feb) for first- and second-year players. This team will be helmed by WNBA legend Candace Parker, containing some of the league’s best young talent.

This is the first time the game will feature the format of four teams playing three games in a mini-tournament. The games will last until the first team reaches or exceeds 40 points. The winning teams will then advance to the finals.

The four coaches will be Mark Daigneault from the Oklahoma City Thunder and Kenny Atkinson from the Cleveland Cavaliers, as well as an assistant from each of their teams.
