NBA Records and Statistics: Single-Game Scoring High

When we discuss record-setting performances in an NBA game, we are referring to those singular instances in which the players gave their all and left their mark on history. To get a peek at the future, the draught and rookie performances are very important to many NBA observers. However, there are situations when teams simply cannot wait. A star rookie needs to step up right away.

For example, Hall of Fame players Bill Russell, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, and Wilt Chamberlain all had a significant impact on their teams right away, not just during the regular season but also crucially during the playoffs.

Highest Point Totals Ever in a Single Game

Wilt Chamberlain set the NBA record for points in a game with 100, which he did in 1962. Kobe Bryant is currently in second place and is 19 points back, therefore Chamberlain’s record is still unbreakable. On March 2, 1962, Wilt Chamberlain of the Philadelphia Warriors broke the NBA single-game record by scoring 100 points. The 100-point performance by Chamberlain is legendary and probably won’t be surpassed.

There have been a few players who have come close, like Kobe Bryant’s 81-point performance in 2006, but Chamberlain’s record hasn’t been seriously challenged since then. In recognition of his 100-point performance, review the NBA’s all-time list of top individual single-game scoring totals.

In a game, the most points – On March 2, 1962, Wilt Chamberlain scored 100 points for the Philadelphia Warriors against the New York Knicks.

A quarter with the most points – On January 23, 2015, Klay Thompson, representing the Golden State Warriors, scored 37. (3rd)

Most points in an extra frame – Gilbert Arenas scored 16 against the Los Angeles Lakers on December 17, 2006, for the Washington Wizards. The record for the post season is 17 by Stephen Curry.

In a triple-double, the most points – 30 January 2018 – 60 by James Harden, Houston Rockets (against. Orlando Magic)
