The welcome ceremony happened at his village near Panipat, which was organized to celebrate his historic gold medal in this Tokyo Olympics,

India’s Olympian Neeraj Chopra who is just 23-years old has been on a busy schedule after his return to his country on Monday. Neeraj Chopra who has only a gold medal for India in this Tokyo Olympics has taken a break for his body the much-needed rest.

According to the PTI report, Neeraj Chopra, the star athlete for India should be fine after a good rest, and that he left the function as a precautionary measure.

After his return to India Neeraj Chopra has been attending various felicitation ceremonies in Delhi. After attending all those ceremonies he finally returned to his native Chandra village, which is located around 15km from Panipat. It was on Tuesday he received a welcoming reception from the people around.

According to the source said,” A lot of people turned up and he reached the venue of the welcome function near his village on a cavalcade. It took time to reach the venue of the function”.

The source also said that “But midway into the function he was feeling exhausted and started having slight fever. So, he left the function and had taken rest at a house nearby”.

“There are some rumors that he has been taken to a hospital. It is not like that. He is all right, it’s not a serious issue. He is feeling exhausted due to attending many functions non-stop after he arrives from Tokyo. He is taking rest at a place not very far from his house”.

Asked why Neeraj Chopra has not returned home, the source replied “He will go home, that is for sure, but he does not want a frenzy from people, including the media”.

After Indian athlete Neeraj Chopra returned from Tokyo, he along with other Olympic medal winners were felicitated by the sports ministry. It was on next day, he attended the felicitation functions which were organized by Punjab and Haryana governments on Thursday and Friday. He was tested for COVID-19 and the result came out negative.

But he still managed to make it to the high tea hosted by President Ram Nath Kovind for the Indian Olympic contingent. Neeraj Chopra was also among the Tokyo Olympians who attended the Independence function at the Red Fort.
