NEP vs AUS: Nepal has officially been declared as the first foreign team to compete in the 2025 Top End T20 Series in Australia. The T20 series will be conducted in Darwin, Northern Territory, from August 14 to 24 and will act as vital practice for Nepal before the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers 2026.
NEP vs AUS: Vital Practice for ICC T20 World Cup 2026
Nepal hopes to capture one of the three available slots for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, to be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. The Top End T20 Series in Australia will enable Nepal to fine-tune their skills under international conditions before traveling to Oman in October for the global qualifiers.
Nepal to Play Six T20 Matches in Darwin
The Nepal cricket team will be in Darwin early in August and will feature a minimum of six T20 games at prime grounds such as:
DXC Arena
TIO Stadium
Cazaly’s Arena
This is the first time Nepal gets to feature in the Top End T20 Series, a milestone moment in their international cricket history.
Paras Khadka: Series Provides Lucrative Exposure
Touching on Nepal’s involvement, Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) Secretary Paras Khadka said:
“We are thrilled and eagerly looking forward to being a part of the Top End T20 Series. It provides a great chance to build up with keen intent and intense practice in preparation for our ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers.”
He added that competing in Australian conditions will provide Nepalese players with much-needed international experience and assist them in their professional development.
Stuart Law to Lead Nepal’s Charge
Nepal hired ex-Australian international Stuart Law as head coach in March 2025. The side has been promising since then, with the high point being a second-place finish in a T20I tri-series tournament against the Netherlands and Scotland in Glasgow.
Coming Up: NEP vs WI T20I Series
After the Darwin T20s, Nepal will make another big step by hosting their very first bilateral T20I series against West Indies in Sharjah in late September 2025.

Northern Territory Cricket CEO Gavin Dovey was keen to welcome:
“We couldn’t be more pleased to host the Nepal national cricket team in the Northern Territory. Nepal has created a zealous following at home and in the Nepali diaspora, and we are delighted to bring them to the Top End T20 Series.”

Although Nepal is the confirmed first team, the rest of the international teams, along with the complete match fixture of the Top End T20 Series 2025, will be released in the next few weeks.
