Improvement in Bangladesh women’s kabaddi team

This was the first ever kabaddi test series between Nepal and Bangladesh women’s team. It was organised in preparation of the upcoming women’s kabaddi world cup that is set to be held in Bihar, India from June 1-13 this year.

The series results would pump in confidence in the women’s Bangladeshi kabaddi team as prior to this event, they had no record of winning against Nepal. It was the Himalayan nation that had always dominated the Bengal tigress in women’s kabaddi.

The Bangladesh team had already started their training camp for the kabaddi test series immediately after winning bronze at the Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship in Iran under the supervision of coaches Shahnaz Parveen Maleka and Arduzzaman Munshi at Dhanmondi Riya Gope Women’s Sports Complex.

Regarding preparations for the World Cup, SM Newaz Sohag said, “Since the Women’s World Cup is in June, we need to play some preparation matches. We’ll play five matches against Nepal which will be very useful for us. I believe that our girls will gain experience before the World Cup. After the series, we’ll try to send the team to India 15-day or a month before the start of the World Cup.”

Sohag also informed that efforts are being made to organise a few warm-up matches against the state team in India. Besides, they are also planning to organise a match against Thailand.
