Neuer’s return at end of October is realistic, says Bayern official

Bayern Munich’s sporting director Christoph Freund says that Manuel Neuer’s return from injury is realistic at the end of October. Neuer is expected to use the league break and national team’s trip to get into a rhythm.

Neuer has been out of action since breaking his leg in a skiing accident in December 2022. He was initially expected to be out for the rest of the season, but his recovery has been ahead of schedule.

Freund said that Neuer is “doing very well” and that he is “on track” to return at the end of October. He added that Neuer will use the league break and national team’s trip to get into a rhythm and build his match fitness.

Neuer’s return is a major boost for Bayern Munich, who have been without their first-choice goalkeeper for most of the season. Sven Ulreich has performed well in Neuer’s absence, but Neuer is still considered to be one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

It is unclear whether Neuer will return to the German national team immediately. His rival, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen, has been in excellent form for Barcelona this season and is also vying for the number one spot.

However, Bayern Munich seems solidly convinced that Neuer’s era is to continue. The club has no plans to sign a world-class goalkeeper as a replacement and is expected to extend Neuer’s contract in the near future.

Overall, Neuer’s return is a positive development for both Bayern Munich and the German national team. He is a world-class goalkeeper and his experience will be invaluable.
