Neymar Junior is currently at the crossroads of his career with an uncertain future. After having an underwhelming stint at Al Hilal, both the club and the player are looking to terminate the contract- which means the Brazilian will have to find a new home.

According to several reports, Neymar is likely to return to his boyhood club Santon. The forward had begun his footballing career from here and helped his shot to stardom before he made his way to Europe in 2013.

Sources suggest that the agreement between the player and the Brazilian will be officially announced in the coming days. The news comes just as Santos has managed to return to the First Division after being crowned champions of the Brasileirão B.

The announcement of the signing is expected once the current season in Brazil concludes, which is nearing its end.

The 37th round of the promotion championship is already underway, and Santos is gearing up to play in the top flight of Brazilian football.

Neymar’s switch to Santos comes after Palmeiras rejected him.

“He is a great player, but he will not come to our club,” Palmeiras president Leila Pereira stated.

“There is absolutely no problem but he will not come here. He is going to Santos.”

For Neymar, this return means more than just going back to his roots. After spending an entire year away from the pitch due to a serious knee injury suffered in October 2023 during a match against Uruguay, the Brazilian is seeking a new beginning. And no better place than where he began from.

The Brazilian had made a much-hyped €80 million move to Al Hilal in Saudi Arabia from PSG last summer which did not go as planned.  He could only play seven matches before injury hit him and managed to score just one goal.

It also has been reported that the Saudi club is considering terminating the contract with the 32-year-old over his lack of availability on the field due to persistent injuries.

The midfielder, who recently returned from a long-running ACL injury,  suffered another setback with a hamstring injury that is set to keep him out of action for another few weeks. Therefore, he has fallen out of favour at Al Hilal.
