Considered to be one of the greatest players of his generation, Neymar has been out of action for his national team since 2023. However, he has been handed a crucial chance to revive his international career ahead of the FIFA World Cup.
Neymar has been named in Carlo Ancelotti’s preliminary squad for the upcoming international break. During the break, the Brazil national team will take on France and Croatia in late March. It is worth noting that this marks the final international window before the highly anticipated 2026 World Cup kicks off.
However, nothing is certain at the moment, the former FC Barcelona player will not feature in Santos’ upcoming Brasileirao clash against Mirassol due to “load control”. Regardless of this, Ancelotti and CBF director Rodrigo Caetano will still attend the match, meaning Neymar now has only one domestic game against Corinthians to show that he belongs in the final squad and would be prepared for the World Cup.
It’s safe to say that the stakes are high for the Brazilian, and all eyes would be on him to show that he deserves a national team call-up.

Neymar’s stats for Brazil
Neymar made his debut for Brazil back in 2010 at just 18 years old. He was quick to rise through the ranks and was soon considered to be the main man of the national team.
He went on to appear for Brazil in 128 games and scored 79 goals. However, since 2023, struggling with injuries, he hasn’t been able to put on the national team’s colors again.
While he has expressed his desire to represent Brazil again, the final call lies in the hands of Carlo Ancelotti. While his career has largely been affected by injuries, no one can deny the fact that he is a tremendous talent and can change the course of the game at will.
Moreover, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi set to play their final World Cup this year, it would be great to see Neymar share the stage with them. If he does, it will be a great treat for fans to see the three greatest players of their generation bow out at the World Cup at the same time.
