As the world knows, it is a challenging task to manage an NFL team. One must appoint coaches, draught college players, write and negotiate player contracts, hire stadium vendors and advertisers, set ticket prices, scout for players, and much more. Moreover, there is a requirement to develop marketing plans for the team’s local market. It is understandable that teams divide up the tasks among several front-office member groups because there is so much to get done.
The NFL is, however, led by different coaches namely the head coaches, and offensive and defensive coaches. The head football coach is responsible for leading the squad, preparing the players for competition, and getting to know every player on the field. The head coach makes decisions regarding the in-game strategy and oversees coaching duties on the side-lines. And the offensive coach’s primary responsibility is to make plays for the offense depending on the defence he observes on the field. Based on how the defence is playing them, the offensive coordinator must make adjustments during the game. Based on how offenses are interacting with their defence during the game, the defensive coaches are required to make adjustments.
In the course of their history, the Cardinals had 42 head coaches. Paddy Driscoll served as their first head coach from 1920 to 1922, compiling a 17-8-4 record with the team. The three head coaches who have coached the Cardinals the longest in team history are Jimmy Conzelman, Jim Hanifan, and Ken Whisenhunt. After 41 seasons with the team, Mark Ahlemeier, the Cardinals’ equipment manager, announced his retirement on April 14, 2022.
