Nicolas Jackson returns to Chelsea training

Jackson has not featured for Chelsea since the club’s 2-1 Premier League win over West Ham at the start of February after sustaining a hamstring injury.

However, he is now back in training and expected to return to action following the international break. Chelsea confirmed on Wednesday that Jackson has been working out on the grass as he steps up his recovery from injury.

Maresca has also seen Mykhailo Mudryk suspended from football in the wake of a positive drugs test, while Jadon Sancho has struggled for form and has not scored for Chelsea since December. Chelsea have suffered a slump in form in 2025 but remain in fourth place in the table and are into the quarter-finals of the Conference League.

They have been abysmal in the Premier League

They have been abysmal in the Premier League only managing to win 4 matches after the turn of the year, this has come down to the depleted forward line that has seen the both the main and backup striker in Nicolas Jackson and Marc Guiu being injured and sidelined since February.

This period has also seen injuries to Noni Madueke and Christopher Nkunku who have suffered from injuries at different times. Chelsea have also looked average in attacking perspectives as Cole Palmer has gone cold in the recent months.

Jackson’s absence has been a big blow for the Blues as Chelsea do not have a focal point upfront and are suffering without it. Also, the press usually starts with Jackson being the first player to press with tenacity and due to his unavailability in the Chelsea squad, they have lacked intent in pressing and have looked sluggish when they are trying to man mark aggressively.

Jackson this season has bagged 9 goals and 5 assists

Jackson had a dream run in the premier league in the starting months of this season as he bagged 9 goals and 5 assists but after December there has been a downfall in his performances before being injured. He will look now to return to his scoring best and would like to get back to his form in style.

Jackson’s return is great news for the fans and Enzo Maresca

If The Blues needs to finish in a champions League spot, they need his scoring ability as well his physicality upfront. His presence is more than enough to engage defenders who otherwise have no one to watch.

In the recent matchdays, Maresca has tried playing Christopher Nkunku and Cole Palmer in the number 9 position but they have not been able to create the impact or influence the game.

But now Jackson’s return is great news for the fans and Enzo Maresca as The Blues can get back on track and hopefully get better at attacking at forward positions.
