Nishad Kumar clinched the gold medal for India, establishing a new Asian Games record in the Men’s High Jump T47 at the 4th Asian Para Games 2022, held on Monday.
Nishad’s remarkable performance earned him the gold with a jump of 2.02 meters. China’s Hongjie Chen secured the silver medal with a jump of 1.94 meters. India’s Ram Pal also won a silver medal, recording a jump of 1.94 meters in his fifth attempt.

Additionally, Indian para-athlete Monu Ghangas achieved a bronze medal in the Men’s Shot Put-F-11 final.
Monu secured a place on the podium with a season-best throw of 12.33 meters during his fourth attempt.
In the realm of athletics, Shailesh Kumar (1.82 meters), Mariyappan Thangavelu (1.80 meters), and Ram Singh Padhiyar (1.78 meters) secured gold, silver, and bronze medals, respectively, in the Men’s High Jump-T63 event.
