Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are set to return to competitive cricket on Wednesday, December 24, when the 2025-26 Vijay Hazare Trophy gets underway. Rohit Sharma will turn out for Mumbai, while Virat Kohli will represent Delhi. While fans are excited to see the two modern greats back in domestic colors, there is a major disappointment in store.

Unfortunately, supporters will not be able to watch either match live on television or any online streaming platform.

Where Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli Will Be Playing

Both Rohit and Kohli are scheduled to feature in the first two matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy for their respective teams. On the opening day, Mumbai will face Sikkim at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, while Delhi will take on Andhra Pradesh at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru.

The action continues on Friday, December 26. Mumbai will play Uttarakhand at the Anantham Stadium, while Delhi will go up against Gujarat, once again at the Centre of Excellence.

Delhi will also have Rishabh Pant in their lineup, with the star wicketkeeper-batter leading the side in these opening fixtures.

Why There Is No Telecast or Live Streaming

All 38 teams in the Vijay Hazare Trophy are in action on the same day, with matches starting simultaneously across the country. A total of 19 matches are played at the same time, but the Board of Control for Cricket in India only broadcasts a limited number of games.

This approach is similar to what is followed during the Ranji Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Broadcasting facilities have reportedly been set up at only two venues for the tournament.

Matches are being telecast only from the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and the Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot. Even there, only games played at the main grounds are shown, while matches at the secondary venues are not broadcast.

Since Rohit’s Mumbai side is playing in Jaipur and Kohli’s Delhi team is based in Bengaluru, their matches will not be available on TV or streaming platforms.

Matches That Will Be Telecast

Matches scheduled to be broadcast from Ahmedabad include Puducherry vs Tamil Nadu on December 24, Jharkhand vs Rajasthan on December 26, Kerala vs Madhya Pradesh on December 29, Jharkhand vs Tamil Nadu on December 31, Karnataka vs Tripura on January 3, Kerala vs Puducherry on January 6, and Karnataka vs Madhya Pradesh on January 8.

From Rajkot, the telecast matches are Hyderabad vs Uttar Pradesh on December 24, Assam vs Jammu and Kashmir on December 26, Bengal vs Chandigarh on December 29, Assam vs Uttar Pradesh on December 31, Baroda vs Vidarbha on January 3, Bengal vs Hyderabad on January 6, and Baroda vs Chandigarh on January 8.

Could There Be a Late Change?

Earlier this year, Delhi’s Ranji Trophy match against Railways was initially not scheduled for broadcast. However, plans changed at the last moment once it was confirmed that Kohli would play the game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium.

Because of that precedent, it remains to be seen whether the BCCI decides to revise its plans and telecast matches involving Rohit and Kohli, which are expected to draw massive interest.

It is also worth noting that the knockout matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy will be played at the Centre of Excellence. As a result, games from that stage of the tournament are expected to be telecast later, as the venue has the required broadcasting facilities.

Fans in Jaipur Get a Chance to Watch Live

There is some good news for cricket fans in Jaipur. Supporters can head to the Sawai Mansingh Stadium and watch Rohit Sharma in action from the stands. Unfortunately, that is unlikely to be the case in Bengaluru, where the match has been shifted from the M Chinnaswamy Stadium to the Centre of Excellence.

Rohit is playing in the Vijay Hazare Trophy for the first time since 2018, while Kohli is returning to the tournament after 15 years, having last featured in 2010.

For those unable to watch the matches live, fans can still follow ball-by-ball score updates from both games on this website.
