It’s that time of the year, to witness the final Grand Slam event of the year – the US Open. The major tournament is back, with the audience making their presence felt. The US Open 2021 is being held from 30th August – 12th September 2021 in New York City, U.S.A. With the spotlight on the 34-year-old Novak Djokovic to create history – to surpass the 20 Grand Slam titles, he shares with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
The Serbian player started the tournament with ease as he won by four sets; 6-1, 6-7 (5/7), 6-2, 6-1 against the teenager from Denmark Holger Vitus Nødskov Rune at the Arthur Ashe Stadium on Tuesday night. The match lasted for 2hrs and 15mins.
By any means necessary.

It was in the second set where the 145th ranked teenager, showed his capability as he leveled the match after winning the tiebreaker and gained over the crowd support. But for H. Rune, he started cramping, early on the third set and couldn’t play his best. As a result, the top-seeded Novak Djokovic easily won the 1st Round.
Much respect to Holger. We’ll see you back here again my friend I’m sure of it 🤝 @usopen #USOpen

In the 2nd round, Djokovic will face Tallon Griekspoor from the Netherlands. If Novak Djokovic wins the US Open 2021 title, he would achieve a Calendar-Year Grand Slam. As in 2021, he has already won the Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon. With the recent Wimbledon victory, he bagged his 20th Grand Slam entering the all-time record of most men’s singles title sharing it with Federer & Nadal.
But both Nadal & Federer are not competing in the 2021 US Open due to injuries, as a result, Novak Djokovic will look forward to breaking the record. Novak has won the US Open 3 times – 2011, 2015, and 2018.
