Novak Djokovic has decided to part ways with coach Andy Murray, ending their six-month partnership.
In a surprise move, Djokovic had hired his former rival Murray last November to coach him amid his struggle with injuries. The Brit announced retirement last year after appearing at Paris Olympics 2024.
Both the parties announced the breakup on Tuesday which they said came mutually.

Djokovic said in a statement released on Tuesday: “Thank you, coach Andy, for all the hard work, fun and support over the last six months on and off the court, really enjoyed deepening our friendship together.”
Murray said: “Thanks to Novak for the unbelievable opportunity to work together and thanks to his team for all their hard work over the past six months. I wish Novak all the best for the rest of the season.”
Both were supposed to work together for the upcoming French Open, but decided to call it quits sooner.

Under Murray’s coaching, the Serb reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open in January and acknowledged his impact in his win over Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz.
“I’m very pleasantly surprised with his dedication and professionalism, considering he’s never had the experience of working as a tennis coach,” Djokovic said in January.
“It comes natural to him. His IQ generally and tennis IQ is very high. He observes and speaks when is most important.
“I think he understands the moment when he needs to say something and what to say and what to ask.
“I must say at the beginning it was a bit of a strange feeling to be able to share the insights with him, not just about the game, but about how I feel, about life in general.
“Not in a negative way, but just in a way I have never done that with him because he was always one of my greatest rivals.”
But Djokovic’s struggle with poor form continues with a series of early exits at various tournaments.
Djokovic was left contemplating his “new reality” after losing to Matteo Arnaldi at the Madrid Open, in what was his third defeat in a row. The 37-year-old then pulled out of this week’s Italian Open in Rome.

The Serb has taken a wildcard to play in Geneva next week where he will look to inform his form ahead of his bid for a record 25th grand slam singles title in the French Open later this month. However, he will be without Murray in Paris.
