Royal Challengers Bangalore and New Zealand batsman Finn Allen has smashed the second fastest fifty against Bangladesh. To complete his half century, he took 18 balls against Bangladesh in the third T20I at Eden Park in Auckland on Thursday. Notably, he scored 79 runs off just 29 balls before getting dismissed by Taskin Ahmed, where his innings included three sixes and ten fours.

The previous best till date was Colin Munro, who smashed his fifty off just 14 balls against Sri Lanka in 2016. The latter had also scored some phenomenal smashes including 18-balls fifties against West Indies and England in 2018.

Finn Allen broke Martin Guptill’s record of smashing 19-balls fifty twice in his T20I career against Sri Lanka and England in 2019.

The record for the fastest fifty was set by the Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh who smashed a 12-ball fifty against England in the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007.

Finn Allen was roped by RCB as a replacement for Australia wicket keeper Josh Phillipe who backed off of IPL 2021. Finn had a base price of INR 20L which is almost as equal as Josh Phillipe. Finn will have his debut as a Royal Challenger Bangalore player in IPL 2021.
