New Zealand and Sri Lanka will go head-to-head in the upcoming match of the Super Eight leg of the tenth edition of the Men’s T20 World Cup. Both sides will look to open their account of wins in thesecond round of the competition by getting the better of each other in what happens to be a crucial fixture if go by the standings of teams in Group 2.
Talking about the form of the two sides, New Zealand got off the mark as far as points are concerned after the opening fixture of the Super Eight waswashed out against Pakistan.
Sri Lanka, on the other hand, were bowled out for less than 100 runs, 95 to be precise, in their first match of the Super Eight against England and would aim fora strong comeback in this particular game.

Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and opted to bowl first as he was a bit unsure as to how the pitch would behave, and with the bowlers doing a good job in the previous match, he thought it was the right call. Shanaka was quick to admit that the batters will have to be a bit smart while playing in the middle overs and will have to take more responsibility.
The opposition captain Mitchell Santner said that it’s been a while since they had a proper games the team was up against rain in the first match. He added that they have had a few good training sessions and are ready to go.
When asked about the conditions, Santner said that they are unfamiliar with them after playing all their games in India and will now have to tackle the Sri Lankan spinners, but at the same time, he is happy with the way different players have contributed in different matches. Satner also wished for the openers who have done a good job at the top of the order to keep up the good work.
