Brazilian left-back Marcelo Vieira officially left the Spanish giants Real Madrid on Monday, 13th of June. Marcelo had a remarkable career and won so many trophies with the Spanish club. Marcelo left the club after being in one of the biggest European clubs in the world for straight 16 years.
Brazilian left-back joined the club in 2006 and after great Roberto Carlos left the club. He was one of the greatest full-backs in Europe. Last season, La Liga club Real Madrid made Marcelo Viera their club captain. He didn’t get enough game time last year as left-back Ferland Mendy used to play for them and has shown some great performances in recent years.
“I woke up every day of my life with the joy of being at the best club in the world. Today I leave as the most decorated player of the club,” said Marcelo in his farewell message to Real Madrid fans in a video posted by Real Madrid’s official social media accounts.
Real Madrid has won the UEFA Champions League this year and Marcelo was in the squad. He was given a chance to lift the Champions League trophy as it was already decided that this will be his last year in the club.
