Top Indian shuttlers Saina Nehwal and Kidambi Srikanth progress to the quarter-finals of the Orleans Masters badminton tournament after defeating their respective opponents in women’s and men’s single in Paris on Thursday.
Saina prevailed over France’s Marie Batomene in the women’s singles second round, while the top-seeded Srikanth beat Cheam Jun Wei of Malaysia in the men’s singles third round of the game.
To make it to her fourth Olympic and running out of time, Saina Nehwal recovered from the opening game reversal to see off Marie in a 51-minute clash in the super 100 over.
The fourth-seeded Indian shuttler, who had pulled out of last week’s All England Championships due to a thigh injury, will face Malaysia’s Iris next week.
Srikanth took 46 minutes to beat his opponent. however, Chirag Sen lost his men’s single math to Hans Kristian Solberg Vittinghus.

Talking further, Ira Sharma also made it to the quarter-finals after beating Bulgaria’s Mariya Mitsova in 32 minutes. The seventh-seeded men’s double pair of MR Arjun and Dhruv Kapila also progressed to the quarter-finals with a 21-11 21-12 win over the English duo of Rory Easton and Zach Ross.
