The Indian Premier League (IPL 2025) has always been a stage for talented cricketers to showcase their skills. While big names often take the limelight, uncapped players also have a unique chance to prove their potential, especially in the annual auction. This year, out of 330 uncapped players, 318 are Indian, and 12 are overseas players. With solid performances in various leagues, a few overseas uncapped players have caught the eyes of IPL scouts.
Here’s a look at five overseas uncapped players to keep an eye on in the IPL 2025 auction.
5. Michael Pepper

Michael Pepper, a 26-year-old English batter, recently got his first call-up for England in an ODI series against the West Indies, although he didn’t play. His consistency in domestic cricket has been hard to ignore. With 2,147 runs in 90 T20 matches, including 10 half-centuries and two centuries, Pepper stands out. His 2024 Vitality Blast season was impressive, as he scored 535 runs in 13 innings at an average of 44.58 and an explosive strike rate of 193.84. Given his form, teams are likely to pursue him eagerly in the IPL 2025 auction.
4. Duan Jansen

Duan Jansen, the twin brother of South African bowler Marco Jansen, is another exciting prospect. He was briefly with the Mumbai Indians during IPL 2024 but only played one game. A left-arm pacer with 35 wickets in 41 T20 matches, Duan also boasts batting skills, having scored 294 runs. His performance in the SA20, where he took four wickets in four matches, has further highlighted his all-round potential. Teams may consider him a valuable addition to boost their bowling line-ups.
3. Tom Kohler-Cadmore

Tom Kohler-Cadmore had a brief stint with the Rajasthan Royals last season, scoring only 48 runs across three innings. Despite this, his T20 record is solid, with 5,306 runs in 218 matches, including 37 fifties and one century. Kohler-Cadmore has played in major T20 leagues worldwide, giving him a wealth of experience in diverse conditions. If picked up in the IPL 2025 auction, he will be eager to make his mark in the IPL.
2. Unmukt Chand

Former Indian player Unmukt Chand, who led India’s U-19 team to victory in the 2012 World Cup, will enter the IPL 2025 auction as a USA player. After retiring from Indian cricket in 2021, Chand moved to the United States. The 31-year-old has previously played for teams like Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians, and Delhi Capitals, scoring 300 runs in 21 IPL matches. Chand, with 1,795 T20 runs in 90 matches, is hoping to return to the IPL with renewed energy.
1. Leus du Plooy

South African cricketer Leus du Plooy tops this list for his consistency and experience. The 29-year-old has an impressive first-class record with 7,579 runs in 116 matches, including 21 centuries and 38 fifties. In T20s, he has scored 3,492 runs in 162 games with 20 fifties. His recent performance in SA20, where he scored 626 runs in 20 matches at an average of 44.71, has made him a player to watch. Many teams will be keen to add him to their lineup in the upcoming IPL season.
