24 year old Yogesh Kathuniya wins silver medal at the Games in the discus throw event.  Yogesh Kathuniya, son of an Army man, unfortunately suffered a paralytic attack at the age of eight which left him with coordination impairments in his limbs.

Yogesh, who is a  B.Com graduate from Delhi’s Kirorimal College was able to throw the disc at a distance of 44.38m in his sixth and final attempt.

Kathuniya got off to a poor start in the Paralympics games. His third and fourth throws were deemed as foul. On the contrary, all of his valid attempts were one of his best performances.

On winning the silver medal for the nation at the Paralympics Games, Yogesh said he was exalted. He further went on to thank the Sports Authority of India (SAI), Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) and his mother for their support.

Yogesh Kathuniya won silver in men’s discus throw (F56) category. This was his best attempt of 44.38m.

It is also to be noted that Brazil’s Claudiney Batista clinched gold with a best attempt of 45.59m.

The Indian Contingent participating at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020 has a great number of athletes competing at the Games. The tournament will continue until 5th September 2021.

Twitter lauds Yogesh’s performance. Best wishes congratulating the Discus throw ace are in order
