Paris Olympics 2024 are underway and medals are being awarded in troves. However, this time winning athletes are being handed a mysterious box along with the medal, which has caught the attention of spectators and fans.
The 40-centimeter narrow box contains the official poster for the Paris Olympics 2024. The posters have been designed by renowned French illustrator Ugo Gattoni. It took him nearly four months and 2,000 hours to design and bring to life the posters which are completely hand-crafted.

The colourful posters are replete with details and symbolism pertaining to the one of the biggest sporting event and the host city. It features the historic opening ceremony, debutant sport breakdancing and landmarks like the Eiffel Tower and the Seine River.

Traditionally, there is one poster each for the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games. However, for the first time in the history of the Olympic Games, the two posters have been crafted together and can be complemented to form one seamless image of Paris Olympics 2024.
The history of the Olympic Games posters dates back to the Stockholm Games in 1912, with every Organising Committee producing banners to highlight various elements, symbols and values specific to their Games and the Olympic and Paralympic movements.
Apart from the official poster, the athletes are given another item after the medal ceremony- a mascot with a medal emblem. The official mascot of the Paris Olympic 2024 has a gold, silver or bronze medal emblem depending on which medal the athlete won. The word “Bravo” is imprinted on the back of the mascot Phryge.
