The much-awaited Paris Olympics 2024 is finally underway with a spectacular opening ceremony. Thousands of spectators gathered in Paris to watch the show-piece events up-close.

Parade Through Seine
The Paris Olympics 2024 opening ceremony saw a unique feature. For the first time in the history of the Olympics, athletes from around the world made their grand entrance to the Games floating on water. Each national contingent sailed down the Seine River to make a unique entry into the Games. All the boats gathered at the base of the Eiffel Tower.
Lady Gaga- Céline Dion
Lady Gaga wowed the audience with an electrifying performance. The 13-time Grammy Award winner kick-started the musical acts of the Paris Olympics 2024 opening ceremony with a rendition of “Mon Truc En Plumes” (“My Thing With Feathers”) along the Seine River in a tribute to French singer, dancer and actor Zizi Jeanmaire.
Céline Dion was another global superstar who mesmerized the spectators at the event’s opening ceremony . The artist sang “L’Hymne à l’amour” from the Eiffel Tower in what marked her first performance since she announced her diagnosis of stiff-person syndrome in 2022.

Light Show at Eiffel Tower
The laser light show at the iconic Eiffel Tower was one of the highlights of the Paris Olympics 2024 opening ceremony. The breath-taking light show could be seen all over Paris.
Olympic Torch
Legendary athletes Rafael Nadal, Serena Williams, Carl Lewis and Nadia Comaneci took turns holding the Olympic torch while sailing on a small boat down the Seine River.

Hot Air Balloon
The Olympic cauldron was lit by Teddy Riner and Marie-Jose Perec, both three-time Olympic champions in judo and track and field respectively. Then it rose into the air on a hot air balloon.
The cauldron will remain suspended nearly 200 feet from the ground from sunset to 2 a.m. local time each day throughout the Games. The cauldron will be grounded and available to be seen up close from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
