Champions League Final: PSG beat Inter Milan to win their first European title
Paris Saint-Germain won their first Champions League title on Saturday after beating Inter Milan 5-0. This was the biggest win in a Champions League final since the tournament started. With this win, PSG also completed a treble, as they had already won Ligue 1 and Coupe de France earlier.
Early goal and Doué’s performance changed the game
In the 12th minute, Achraf Hakimi scored the first goal against his former club. After that, 19-year-old Désiré Doué scored two goals and made PSG take full control. He became the first teenager to score twice in a Champions League final since Eusebio did it in 1962 for Benfica against Real Madrid.
Kvaratskhelia and Mayulu made the win more special
Before Inter Milan could make a comeback, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia scored the fourth goal. Then, substitute Senny Mayulu scored in the 86th minute. He also joined the list of teenagers who scored in a Champions League final.
PSG’s new strategy finally worked
Under Qatari ownership, PSG tried for many years to win the Champions League by signing big stars like Messi, Neymar, Ibrahimovic, and Mbappé. But two years ago, they changed their plan and started signing young players. Interestingly, they won the title in their first season without Mbappé, who had joined Real Madrid.
PSG is now the second French club to become European champions
Now, PSG has become only the second club from France to win the Champions League. Marseille was the first to do it in 1993. Coach Luis Enrique won this title for the second time. Earlier, he had led Barcelona to the trophy in 2015.
Hakimi and Marquinhos shared their emotions
After the match, Hakimi said, “We have made history. This club deserved this trophy. We played like a family. Luis Enrique changed everything. He gave PSG a new direction.”
Captain Marquinhos also shared his feelings. “This is the best day of my life. I remember all those players who played for PSG but couldn’t win this trophy – like Thiago Silva, Cavani, Di Maria, Lucas Moura, and Zlatan. This win is for all of them too.”
PSG fans celebrated in Allianz Arena
Thousands of PSG fans celebrated in Bayern Munich’s home ground, Allianz Arena. They waved flags, lit flares, and made the stadium full of energy. On the other side, many Inter fans left the stadium before the match ended.
Match highlights: smart passing, luck, and young players’ impact
The match started with a smart passing move — Vitinha passed to Doué, who passed it to Hakimi for the goal. The second goal came from a lucky deflection off a defender. Doué’s second goal showed his calm finishing. Then Kvaratskhelia and Mayulu completed the score.
Most one-sided final in Champions League history
This 5-0 win is now the biggest ever in a Champions League final. Before this, the biggest wins were 4-0 — by AC Milan in 1989 and 1994, and Bayern Munich in 1974. But PSG’s win broke all those records.
