Earlier today, Wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya pulled out of participating in the World Championship owing to lack of practice and being unprepared for the same.
Meanwhile, the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) confirms the participation of Wrestlers Vinesh Phogat, Sonam Malik, and Divya Kakran.
The three wrestlers had been temporarily suspended for alleged during the Games. On Wednesday, the WFI confirmed that the players will be eligible for the World Championship. It is to be noted that Sonam, Divya, and Vinesh have been cautioned and reprimanded.
A letter was sent out to the three wrestlers. It clearly stated that despite the unsatisfactory behavior in the game, the WFI would like to give the players a second chance. The trio has been forgiven and warned for the same.
WFI assistant secretary Vinod Tomar also said, “We will be conducting selection trials on August 31 in New Delhi. They will be allowed to take part in it,” this confirms Vinesh Phogat, Sonam Malik, and Divya Kakran’s participation in the World Championship.
In a letter addressed to the three wrestlers the President of WFI also stated that the authorities will be ‘compelled’ to impose lifetime bans on the trio for any act of indiscipline in the future.
Hoping that the wrestlers make the best of their second chance issued to them by the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI)
