Partnership Records – Highest Partnerships in ODI Cricket Records and Statistics

A team’s ability to compile a daunting total in cricket depends on having strong partnerships. Especially when played swiftly, cricket is inherently batsman friendly. In the past, batsmen have regularly and effectively employed several bowlers as tools to turn the game in their favor. In the end, cricket is a team sport that depends on the performance of every member of the playing XI squad to succeed.

Every Batman needs a reliable sidekick to help him hone his abilities. The potential for damage from a pair of batsmen who are comfortable with one another at the wicket is far greater than that of a newly formed partnership. Throughout Cricket’s history, there seem to have been a lot of significant alliances. Several times, top batsmen have joined forces to assist in scoring for their teams and destroy the opposition’s bowling strategies.

Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels collaborated

In the 2015 ICC World Cup match against Zimbabwe in Canberra, Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels combined for 372 runs for the second wicket. The pertinent records for ODI and List A cricket partnerships are listed by Bharath Seervi. The 15th match of the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup between West Indies and Zimbabwe took place at Manuka Oval in Canberra, and it was a day of records. There were no indications at the beginning of the innings of the Caribbean batsmen’s upcoming feast of runs. Tinashe Panyangara bowled Dwayne Smith with the game’s second ball. Chris Gayle was almost out on the fourth ball, which had a review for LBW against him.

John Campbell and Shai Hope create a world record

The partnership was broken in the 47th over when Campbell was out for 179, and Hope followed him to the pavilion two overs later when he was struck by Barry McCarthy for 170. During the one-day international match between West Indies and Ireland in Dublin, John Campbell and Shai Hope set a record by adding a combined 365 runs for the first wicket. Additionally, it was the first time in the game’s ODI format that the partnership’s two openers had achieved 150 runs.

They beat the previous mark of 304 runs set in 2018 by Imam-ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman. During Pakistan’s game versus Zimbabwe in Bulawayo, they accomplished the feat. Campbell soon reached his century after Hope he was followed to a century, his first in international cricket. In the 48th over, Campbell top-edged Barry McCarthy to mid-off, and Hope was out three balls later after holing out to deep square-leg.

Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid Set Record Partnership

The toss was won by India, and captain Sachin Tendulkar decided to bat first. Sachin Tendulkar decided to pursue Chris Cairns, but sadly Sourav Ganguly was run out at the non-end striker when Shane O’Conner’s light touch on the ball shattered the stumps there. Following the early breakthrough, two of India’s best batsmen took control of the game as New Zealand’s bowlers were unable to make any further inroads. The bowling attack was destroyed by both Dravid and Tendulkar. On that day, not even Chris Harris, who is often frugal, was spared. Harris, who is renowned for his deft speed changes, was unable to halt the run flow.

Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid hit the boundaries

It was the time before the T20. On this day in Taunton, 22 years ago, the renowned Indian batters Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid played around with a top-notch Sri Lankan attack during the 1999 World Cup. The two Indian batters destroyed the then-defending champions, putting a stake in the ground for the quadrennial competition in the UK.

It was big hitting of the greatest caliber, which at that time in cricket was unheard of. The first 300-run partnership in ODI cricket was established by Rahul Dravid and Sourav Ganguly, who combined for 318 runs in just 44.5 overs. Ganguly scored 183 runs in his greatest ODI performance, hitting 7 sixes, 17 fours, and 158 balls. And Dravid scored 145 in only 120 balls, hitting just one six there are 17 boundaries. As Sri Lanka was bowled out for 216, India scored their then-higher World Cup total of 373 to secure a 157-run victory.

Fakhar Zaman and Imam-Ul-Haq Break All-Time Opening Partnership

The all-time opening partnership in one-day international (ODI) history was broken on Friday by Pakistan’s Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq. At the fourth ODI against Zimbabwe at Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq reached the milestone. To break the record for the longest opening partnership, the Pakistani team passed Sri Lanka’s Sanath Jayasuriya and Upul Tharanga. Before Imam’s dismissal by Wellington Masakadza, Zaman and Imam put together a significant 304-run opening stand. In the meantime, Fakhar Zaman became the first cricketer from Pakistan to reach a double century in an ODI. Saeed Anwar, who scored 194 runs against India in 1997, held the record for the most runs scored in an inning before Zaman.
