Family First: Cummins Puts Cricket on Hold

Before the much-anticipated Border Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) 2024-25 against India, Cummins had already hinted at missing Australia’s tour of Sri Lanka. His reason? Simple. He regretted missing the early days of his firstborn’s life and didn’t want to make the same mistake again.

With Cummins stepping away for family time, vice captain Steve Smith took charge of the two-test series against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka.

Injury Woes: Cummins to Miss Champions Trophy 2025

Just when Australia needed their leader back, another setback hit. Cummins’ recovery from an ankle injury has taken longer than expected, ruling him out of the Champions Trophy 2025.

And it’s not just him. Australia’s pace attack is in trouble:

  • Josh Hazlewood is sidelined with an injury
  • Mitchell Marsh is also recovering
  • Marcus Stoinis recently retired from ODIs

With Cummins out, Australia now faces a leadership battle. The frontrunners? Steve Smith and Travis Head.
