Patna Pirates Appoints Dinesh Kharab As New Assistant Coach

2 Min Read

Patna Pirates have appointed Dinesh Kharab as their new assistant coach ahead of the 13th season of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL).

Kharab has an experience in coaching and a strong understanding of game strategy. Before his arrival at the PKL coaching staff, he served as a coach at the Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Rohtak, Haryana. He has been instrumental in training several rising stars, including players like Anshu Kumar who have featured in the Yuva Kabaddi Series.

Kharab appointment comes as a part of Patna Pirates’ effort to overhaul the staff.

Patna Pirates, the most successful franchise in Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) history, earlier appointed Jasveer Singh as their new head coach for the upcoming season. The seasoned tactician replaces former India captain Anup Kumar, marking another major shift in the team’s leadership structure.

Jasveer previously coached UP Yoddhas from 2018 to 2024. Under his guidance, the Yoddhas became one of the league’s most consistent performers, reaching the playoffs in five out of seven seasons. His ability to maintain squad stability and extract strong performances from young and experienced players alike has earned him widespread acclaim.

Patna Pirates delivered one of the most memorable turnarounds of PKL Season 12. After languishing at the bottom of the table for the first half of the campaign, the team rallied under interim coach Randeep Dalal, winning five straight matches to qualify for the top eight.

Once the season ended, the franchise released both Anup Kumar and Randeep Dalal, seeking a fresh outlook for the upcoming edition.

The Pirates have undergone multiple coaching changes over the last few seasons. From Narender Redhu’s exit after Season 11 to Anup Kumar’s short stint in Season 12 and Dalal’s interim tenure, stability has been elusive.
