Peter Bol Performance enhancing drugs ban lifted after mismatched samples
Olympic 800-meter finalist Peter Bol announced on Tuesday that his temporary punishment for doping has been lifted because the A and B results were not identical.
Testing the B sample typically indicates a doping violation.
Peter Bol tweeted, “I just learned that my B sample did not match my A sample. Sport Integrity Australia has lifted my temporary suspension.
Peter Bol claimed to have never used performance-enhancing drugs and called the previous month “a nightmare.”
Peter Bol failed an exclusionary test on October 11, Athletics Australia reported last month. The runner’s 28th-year A sample was found to contain the illegal substance erythropoietin, also known as EPO.
It’s difficult to express the relief I’m experiencing, he said. The previous month was nothing short of a nightmare. I regret that my A sample results were released, but there is nothing I can do to stop it.
“To repeat what I have already said: I am innocent and did not take this substance as I was alleged to have done.”
At the Olympics in Tokyo, Bol finished fourth in the 800-meter final, and he won silver at the Commonwealth Games in 2022.
