Indian cricket team won the first ODI against West Indies on Friday night, 22nd July at Queen’s Park Oval. The game was a last-ball thriller. However, after the game, Phil Simmons, the head coach of West Indies men’s cricket team praised the former Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli who is not been picked up by the selectors for this ODI and T20I series against West Indies.
Virat Kohli was given rest for this West Indies’ tour as the batter is finding back his form. Phil Simmons isn’t impressed with this decision from Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) of dropping Virat Kohli for this West Indies’ tour. Simmons wanted to see him play against them in ODIs and T20Is. Virat Kohli played in the recent England tour but wasn’t in a good touch as he couldn’t even go past 20 runs in any of the matches he played in the three-match ODI series.
“We all know that Virat’s record says that he is one of the best of all time. So yes I am disappointed and it would have been nice had he been here. I’m sure all the guys would have loved the competition,” said Phil Simmons according to Vimal Kumar’s YouTube channel.
