Philippines Ready To Host Volleyball World Championship

FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship 2025 is set to get rolling in the c from 12-28 September. 

A total of 32 teams from across the globe will take part in the Filipino capital of Manila. This is for the first time that the tournament is being played in an expanded 32 teams format.

The FIVB Men’s Volleyball World Championship 2025 is the first World Championship to be hosted in Southeast Asia, and the second of two consecutive World Championships in 2025 held in this region, following the Women’s World Championship in Thailand. 

The Philippines became the second country in Asia to host the World Championship, following Japan. The competition is also the second world senior championship in Olympic team sports to be hosted in the Philippines.

Italy are the defending champions, having won their fourth title in 2022.

World number one team Poland are aiming to reclaim the trophy that they won back-to-back in 2014 and 2018. 

Reigning world champions Italy are bidding for consecutive titles for the first time since 1998. 

Olympic champions France are chasing their first World Championship title. Their previous best finish came as bronze medallists in 2002.

Alongside host nation Philippines, Colombia will make their tournament debut.

Three-time champions Brazil are targeting a first triumph in 15 years.  Several erstwhile champions playing to to end their title droughts are the USA (last winners in 1986), Germany (1970) and Czechia (then Czech Republic, in 1966).

  • September 12-18: pool phase
  • September 20-23: round of 16
  • September 24-25 : quarter-finals
  • September 27 : semi-finals
  • September 28 : bronze medal match and gold medal match
