A lot has changed in the WPL 2026 squads of the teams since two high-profile overseas players in Ellyse Perry and Annabel Sutherland withdrew due to personal reasons.
In another development, there is Tara Norris, who won’t feature in the tournament after being selected to represent the United States in the World Cup Qualifiers. As these withdrawals have been conveniently made, the respective signings have been swiftly made by the franchises.
Ellyse Perry Steps Away From WPL 2026
Royal Challengers Bengaluru has confirmed the news that Ellyse Perry will not feature in the WPL 2026, thereby ending at the least for nowa continuous association with the franchise.
Key Highlights of Perry’s WPL Journey:
- Part of RCB in all three WPL seasons so far
- Retained for INR 2 crore ahead of WPL 2026
- Second-leading scorer in the history of the WPL
Instrumental in RCB’s title-winning campaign in 2024, RCB have named India pace-bowling allrounder Sayali Satghare as Perry’s replacement. Satghare, who has played three ODIs for India, joins the squad for her base price of INR 30 lakh. She had previously played four WPL games across two seasons for Gujarat Giants.
Annabel Sutherland Ruled Out, DC Sign Alana King
The Delhi Capitals (DC) will also lose the services of Annabel Sutherland during the WPL season of 2026. The Australian allrounder, who was retained at INR 2.2 crores, is a crucial addition to their roster, having initially started their journey in WPL last year with the Gujarat Giants.
DC have also appointed Alana King as the replacement for Sutherland. Although King has played only one match in the WPL, she brings plenty of confidence from the recently concluded Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL), where she took a total of 12 wickets in 13 matches for the Perth Scorchers as they finished runners-up.
Tara Norris Misses WPL 2026 for International Duty
UP Warriorz will also be forced into a change, with Tara Norris unavailable for WPL 2026 due to her selection for the USA squad in the 2026 T20 World Cup Qualifiers.
Norris:
- Was signed for her base price of INR 10 lakh
- Previously represented Delhi Capitals in 2023
- Took 7 wickets in 5 matches during that season
UP Warriorz have brought in Australian batting allrounder Charli Knott as her replacement, also at INR 10 lakh.
Who Is Charli Knott?
Although uncapped at international level, Charli Knott brings considerable experience:
- Six seasons in the WBBL
- Two seasons in The Hundred
Her domestic pedigree adds depth to the UP Warriorz lineup for WPL 2026.
Impact on WPL 2026
The departures of Perry, Sutherland, and Norris represent important challenges for WPL teams ahead of WPL 2026; however, the teams have reacted accordingly by incorporating experienced replacements for the departing stars. All these teams are set to face new challenges with the introduction of new dynamics resulting from the above replacements.
