The Miami Open, also known as the Miami Masters, is a professional tennis tournament which takes place at Miami Gardens, Florida. It is an ATP 1000 and WTA Tour 1000events scheduled in late March or early April on outdoor hard courts.
The tournament serves as the second leg of the “Sunshine Double,” which consists of two elite hard-court events held in the United States shortly after the Indian Wells Open in early spring.

1. Andre Agassi (6)
Andre Agassi has won the Miami Open six times, a record he shares with Novak Djokovic for the most wins in ATP history. His victories came in 1990, 1995, 1996, 2001, 2002 and 2003. He also shares the record for the most consecutive titles with Djokovic, having won three years in a row from 2001 to 2003.
Furthermore, Agassi holds the record for the most consecutive match wins in the tournament, with 20 victories spanning from 2001 to 2003. Additionally, Agassi achieved the Sunshine Double in 2001, an accomplishment shared by only seven men’s singles players to date.
The American clinched two consecutive trophies in Miami in 1995 and 1996, triumphing over Pete Sampras and Goran Ivanišević respectively. He then overcame Jan-Michael Gambill, Federer and Carlos Moyá to win three back-to-back titles from 2001 to 2003.
2. Novak Djokovic (6)
Novak Djokovic has clinched the Miami Open six times, tying with the legendary Agassi for the most wins. Djokovic boasts a 44-7 record at the tournament, with his most recent victory in 2016. The Serbian claimed his first title in 2007 by defeating Guillermo Cañas. He then secured consecutive titles in 2011 and 2012, overcoming his arch-rivals Nadal and Murray respectively.
Subsequently, Djokovic prevailed over Nadal, Murray and Kei Nishikori to win three successive titles from 2014 to 2016.
3. Roger Federer (4)
Roger Federer won the Miami Open consecutively in 2005 and 2006. In 2005, he triumphed over the then-young Rafael Nadal in a five-set thriller to clinch his first title in Miami. The following year, while securing his second title he defeated his former coach Ivan Ljubicic.
Federer claimed his third title in 2017, beating his Spanish rival and friend, Nadal. His fourth and final title came in 2019 when he overcame John Isner.

4. Pete Sampras (3)
Pete Sampras won the Miami Open Open three times. He won his first title in 1993. The following year, Sampras rallied to win his second consecutive title with sets of 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 against Agassi.
The 2000 Miami Open, Sampras faced Kuerten, a rising talent from Brazil, and emerged victorious in the final.
