The National Basketball Association (NBA) Rookie of the Year is an annual award given to the top rookie of the regular season. The honor has been given following the 1952–53 NBA season. Earlier it was given in the form of Eddie Gottlieb Trophy, named after the former Philadelphia Warriors head coach. Since the 2022–23 NBA season, winners receive the Wilt Chamberlain Trophy, named after the former NBA Rookie of the Year winner.
The winner is voted on by a panel of United States and Canadian sportswriters and broadcasters. The first-, second-, and third-place votes are worth five points, three points, and one point, respectively. The player with the highest point total, regardless of the number of first-place votes, wins the award.
Here’s a list if players who have won NBA Rookie of the Year in History.
