The PUBG Mobile World Cup (PMWC) 2025 is getting ready to bring action-packed battles to fans across the world. This big esports event will take place from July 25 to August 3 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. With 24 teams from different countries and a $3 million prize pool, it will be one of the biggest tournaments in mobile gaming this year.
What makes this tournament even more exciting is the Smash Rule, a special twist that changes how the final matches will be won.
What is the Smash Rule?
The Smash Rule was first introduced by Krafton and Level Infinite in early 2025. It has already been used in various smaller PUBG Mobile leagues like PMSL and PMCL. But PMWC 2025 will be the first global tournament to fully use this format.
Here’s how it works in the Grand Finals:
- Teams will first play 12 matches using normal rules.
- After these 12 matches, a Target Match Point will be set.
- This target will be the total points of the top team plus 10 extra points.
- Once a team crosses this target, they must also win a Chicken Dinner to become champions.
- If no team wins a Chicken Dinner after crossing the target, the winner will be decided by overall points.
This rule adds more excitement and makes every match more intense, especially on the final day.
PMWC 2025 Format and Stages
The tournament will be split into three stages:
- Group Stage (July 25-27)
- 24 teams will be divided into 3 groups.
- Each group will play 12 matches in a Round Robin format.
- The top 8 teams go straight to the Grand Finals.
- The bottom 16 go to the Survival Stage.
- Survival Stage (July 29-30)
- The 16 teams will fight for the remaining 8 spots in the Grand Finals.
- Grand Finals (August 1-3)
- 16 teams will play a maximum of 18 matches.
- First 12 matches use normal rules.
- After that, the Smash Rule comes into effect.
